Are Google’s Search Results Bad on Purpose?

You know me, I’m a search engine marketing nut. I’m always looking for ways to crack the Google search results code. Most of the time I can get a site ranked pretty highly after just a little while.

But I was talking to a friend over the Holidays (she owns a search engine marketing firm) who shared an interesting theory with me I never considered before.

Her feeling is Google may be displaying organic (natural) search results POORLY on purpose, so users will click on the PAID search results (ads) so they (Google) can make more money.

Interesting thought. What do you think?

Definitely an interesting thought but I don't think it's the case.

Google has a lot of competition beyond Bing/Yahoo – they also compete for search share with Twitter, Facebook, and even itself in Youtube.

So I think if they are sabotaging their own search results, they'd know how much of a negative impact that would have.

Google has made a lot of changes recently that makes its results as organic as possible. The point you raised wouldn't make sense as google will not serve its only purpose.

The penguin update made a lot of changes on the way search engine tools give results. Some of the websites have been penalized due to over optimization. This might be the reason why Google keeps on giving odd results. During this time, it is essential to ask help from a company that offer the best seo reseller service to gain better results when using search engine tools.
